Consevation Council New Brunswick is putting on a womans-only event for Earth Month on April 27 @ the Delta in Fredericton N.B. - Click on post title for CCNB website!!

I am playing some original ditties opening for Cathy Jones (comedian from This Hour Has 22 Minutes) as she will be the main entertainment. Then *ERA* an all female band from Fredericon will end the night with a couple hours of DANCE PARTY ACTION!!

It should be a great event! Hope to see all the ladies looking fine...

Friends,

I am asking this question because I believe there is some questions as to who has the most beautiful one...*haha* I believe that I now have the answer to that question. I DO!

Last night my Dad came to see me play and it was a surprise, he told me he had something he needed my help with. I thought he was bringing me over to do some kind of work at the house, but when he told me to close my eyes and put a new case on my lap I thought he brought me over to fawn and swoon to his new guitar. He's been talking about buying a new guitar for some time now...

But Ladies and Gentlemen on a regular run of the mill Thursday my Father gave me a brand new, Taylor acoustic, full body GS with the *expression system* ... Here's what Taylor themselves say about my new baby.... " It's big. And if you think you know the "Taylor" sound, you're in for a big surprise. MindCare New Brunswick has launched an education campaign, aimed at raising awareness about Depression in New Brunswick.

Depression impacts many lives. It can affect anyone. Your neigbour, your coworker, maybe even someone in your family. It is much more than sadness or feeling blue. It is a debilitating condition that can completely immobilize someone. Simply finding the motivation to get out of bed can be the greatest of challenges. But for those who suffer, the stigma can be as painful as the illness.

Perhaps the greatest difference we can make comes from understanding. Depression is not something you simply get over. It is a disease. It's time to change our attitudes.
We need to start talking about depression, we need to understand what depression is and that it is nothing to be ashamed of.

It's time to take depression seriously.

WE are really excited to be opening for such an event. It's a great honor to set the mood before such a powerful speaker takes the stage. I will be pulling out all the stops and all my protest songs.

The August Party!

The weekend of the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th I traveled up north to Perth Andover and attended the *August Party*... This party has been going on for 23 years and this year I was lucky enough to be invited to attend & entertain. Four days of camping on one of the most amazing plots of land I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. The party had great people, lots of food, and more music and musicians than you could shake a stick at.

It was an absolutely amazing time!!

The plot where this party takes place is nothing short of paradise. There is an upper and a lower level to the property and in the lower section sits a pond where I swam every morning. The weather was nothing short of perfect... Even the one rain storm we had was awesome!

It's hard to recall all the great moments and conversations I had. The first thing I did upon arriving in Perth was head to the Baird's Camping Grounds and I met the local celebrity Heidi Baird. She was my #1 girl all weekend and is a truly genuine and kind woman. I don't know what is wrong with all the men up in Perth, because she is a catch if I ever saw one! Heidi was my first contact and I am truly lucky that she is the woman she is. I am a huge Fan of yours!

The Bogan Bar serves a variety of food and has entertainment that can set up both inside and outside. I know this because I had a stellar Greek salad and I also played both outside and then inside. The crowd was small, but intimate and kind. I had a great time at the camp ground and stayed up playing music with a group from Toronto who stopped by the bar after their show... They are called the *Uber Hussies* and they are super talented girls. It was great...

Thanks to the Gallager's for coming out to the show and making me feel so welcome.

I spent the first night set up in a pimpin trailer at the Baird's Campground. It was sweet and comfortable and the fridge was even stocked with a chocolate bar. *haha* I had a great sleep and woke to hang out with Heidi and some girls she works with. Then we ran errands around town before heading out to Dan and Cindy's place.

I had a great time kicking around with Heidi and proceeded to call her the *local celeb* after seeing how many people she knows and how they all adore her. Heidi had to stop at Home Hardware and so while we were there I decided to get some supplies to make some hoops for the weekend. You see, I was in Fredericton by the time I realized I didn't have my hoop with me... So, this nice man Winston helped me get all the gear I needed to make hoops.

The first thing Winston said to Heidi was... "She can't be from around here." He said that people around there just wouldn't think to do something like this. I bought all the supplies and then we headed out to the site of the party. Way back in the woods and out of the way... What an amazing space.

So, upon arrival I put together and taped up the hoops with the help of Perry and Heidi. Perry was the muscle and the tape cutter, Heidi was the art director and I just kept at it until they were all done. After each hoop was made I would show off my hooping tricks... Ah the inspiration began from there and everyone was soon infected with my love for hooping.

I set up my tiny little tent just around the corner from the bridge & no one could figure out how I fit into such a little tent. Some nights it was pretty cold. This is why traveling alone kind of sucks... The boyfriend is at home and so I had to tough it out alone. It was really hard on me at some points, but as soon as I got into a conversation with the amazing people around me, my loneliness just melted away.

Each morning I would wake to the sun and coincidentally *Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young* & head straight down to the pond and take a morning dip. It is the perfect way to wake up and at least feel a little clean even though I was a true hipster all weekend! *Yum*

I played a ton of music over the weekend and sat around the fire, talked to all the great people and found out about all of them and how long they have been coming and who they know in the crowd. It was great.

There are too many people to name, but I had a great amount of personal jokes and connections with all of you. The children in themselves was enough to make me overwhelmed with love. The girls hooped it up like champs and really took to me and the kids were a great source of comfort when I needed to play. The beach volley ball was a ton of fun & horse shoes too, even though I got kicked off my team cause I had to go get some eats.

I was told upon arrival... When the foods up, you go eat, don't delay or it'll be gone. So I listened to that and made sure I was all about the food when it came up.

Thank you Dan & Cindy for such an amazing party. I don't think I could be anywhere else during the month of August. Everyone kept asking me if I was coming back and I would just smile and say 'Where else could I be?' It truly was a great weekend!

The Down East Picnic

This weekend was the *First Annual Fred Eaglesmith Down East Picnic* in Muniac & it was AWESOME! I want to thank Brian Glass and his family, all the volunteers from Katimavik and all the people who came out to the Festival. Special thanks to Mike MacDonald for showing his adorable face and surprising me with his company and some new details about his life - *Brand New Information*! Loved it all!

My weekend started with a drive to Fredericton to get some kids. After picking up the lovelies we made our way to FORREST CITY! Anne of the Forrest has an amazing spread and I am fully going to visit her again SOON! I had no idea this place actually existed and it's amazing.

Upon arrival the glorious Princess Fiona met us in a beautiful and flowing white princess dress. She is blond and pale and smiled her huge and honest smile up at us. We were ushered over to her little cafe in the yard and promptly fed blue berries and oreo cookies. Fiona is a great hoola hooper as well and Anne had a ton of hoops for us to play with. We danced and hooped and did ballet moves. What an amazing little girl she is. I would spend all of my time in your imaginative mind my girl, if only the world would let me.

Debbie Adshade and I put on a concert in the house and then we took a break to mingle with the folks that came out to see us. Some old sister friends were in attendance and some new soul connections were made. The community church was dark and dismal when we arrived, but once the candles were lit the gospel songs came a soaring out from me. The bell was rung and then the hooligans ran down the main St in Forrest City towards the American boarder with laughter and tears of joy. What an amazing night!

In the morning breakfast was beautiful and we packed er all up to head to the Festival. I was playing first and I was so happy to be in that spot, because as soon as I was finished I could just kick back, hoop and drink and mingle with all the people. We arrived at 12:55 and I grabbed my guitar and went on stage, just like that.

Now this is the venue for me. The woods, the dirt, the camping chairs and the wide open hearts and eyes just waiting so see what I have to say. These people love my stories. They know that the story makes the music all the more powerful and they want to hear what I think, they want to relate to my emotions. Festivals are the venue for me... I have never doubted this & I've always wanted to be full to the brim with festivals, but they have to be the right kind & this was definitely the right kind!

After my set I got busy with my hoop. I learned how to dance and keep it alive. I learned how to feel the music and the hoop and make them co-inside. Everyone though I had been hooping for a long time, but I kept saying that I was a new addict.

All the acts were so great... I am such a fan! Next year the Festival will be all weekend and I am so, so, so excited to attend. I am a professional camper and love getting dirty and meeting as many new people as possible! What a fabulous weekend. I drank more beer by myself than the two girls I was with combined. I also met up with an old friend who used to waitress at *Incredible Edibles* back in the day when I played there on Sunday nights in SJ. She is now a wine maker and she had the most beautiful Porter wine... She got me looped in the afternoon sun and it was so much fun! Thank you Rebecca!

Our parting was such sweet sorrow & the bugs were swarming around us begging us not to go... But after a sweet breakfast we packed up and headed home. I have the biggest bruise on my left hip from hooping... At one point Fred Eaglesmith announced to the crowd that I wasn't real... He said 'Don't worry everyone, the hoola hooper isn't real. She's an energizer bunny and we plug her in at night.' *haha* What a treat to meet Fred and talk with him about the troubles I've been having in the face of my album release. David Miles was wonderful in this area as well. Those who know what it's like have the real advice! Thank you Gentlemen!

Hey all! I am playing a semi regular gig at the Copper Head Pub!
The Copper Head Pub is below HoJo's in the basement of Place 400!
Every second Wed starting this Wed the 14th, I will be playing!
So for June I'll play again on the 28th... Goes from 7-11pm

I guess the wings are amazing and the beer is cheap and local.
I'll be playing lots of great favorites and some good old country tunes.
I love Saint John...

I am also hoola hooping everyday in King Square at lunch, so if you want to bring your hoop and join me, we can all get fit and put on a show together!

Last night I was planning a nice evening in. I had biked home after my day in the market and a great dinner @ Taco Pica. I was beat and sweaty when I got the call.

It was an old friend from university & his ball team was in town. They had played in the provincial tournament and were finished for the weekend. He invited me out. I got ready and called back asking if I should bring my guitar?... YES, said a random man's voice on the phone. So I headed out.

Thank you Gentlemen! What an intimate and hilarious night of music and stories. Not at all what I expected to be doing & one of the nicest surprises I've had in some time now.

Marimichi Rocks! I can't wait for the August Party!

Hey Everyone!

Thank you to all the people who came out and supported the first annual Loyalist City Folk Festival, what a great weekend of music and community! It truly was Amazing!

I wanted to drop some notice to the shows I enjoyed - The Gala was wonderful and Valdy, the most excitable character on stage. He almost took over the hosting, which I'm sure Brent Mason wouldn't have minded handing over to him. He was hilarious and did a little tribute to Roger Miller singing 'King of the Road' it was Awesome.

Matt Anderson was of course a force of nature and choose a beautiful Bob Dylan tune to end the night. Stephen Fearing made me cry out loud with the newest tune he wrote called 'The man who married music & the man who married you.' It was the sweetest love song I have heard in a long time.

Debbie Adshade was incredible as always, she was shy on stage but made it to the front page of the paper! Beautiful picture too! Marshall Crenshaw can play that guitar & Jay Semko played 'Girl with a problem' & made all of our nights complete!

I always enjoy Hot Toddy & Isaac and Blewett because I love them as people and can't help but dance to their ho down grooves!

Robbie Fulks is such a funny man. Hailing from Chicago he plays country music and has worked with such greats as George Jones! He is so funny on stage and his style is pure and honest! He always tells himself to take the solos and had the audience feeling comfortable and involved. Thanks Robbie!

Chris Smither has a Johnny Cash thing going on... Wears all black and talks real soft and slow when he sings. His lyrics are heavy, dark and true blues. His guitar style is exactly how my father aspires to play & in our conversations we discussed how we might be related. He has Palmer blood in his background. My family Rocks!

Rob Lutes had me mezmerized for his entire set! I wanted to marry this man 10 seconds after he started singing. He plays his guitar and shakes his body like he has so much more passion locked away in the core of his person and he's fighting to keep it at bay. He is honest, poetic and moving both in the way he expresses his music and shares his voice. Totally blew my mind. Loved it!
